Move your vehicle to a safe spot, turn on your hazard lights, and don’t stay inside your car if you’re near fast-moving traffic. Get out when it is safe to do so and stand well clear of your vehicle incase another car hits yours.
Use your hazard lights, and if it’s safe to do so, place a warning triangle at least 45 metres behind your vehicle to alert other road users. In dark or rainy conditions, stay visible by wearing a high-visibility vest if you need to exit the vehicle.
